I definitely recommend reserving a table during usual dinner hours and especially on weekends as it will likely be difficult to secure a table. I had the opportunity to dine at Fado twice within the span of several months. Appetizers I would recommend include PASTÉIS DE BACALHAU. Others I have tried include CHOURIÇO A BOMBEIRO and CAMARÃO ALHINHO, both of which were tasty, but nothing particularly special especially if you have tried other variations of it. Of the 3 entrees I've tried, I would highly recommend the POLVO À LAGAREIRO. The octopus was cooked very nicely and was very tender and flavorful. ARROZ DE MARISCO was far too salty and difficult to finish despite being very flavorful. Also, it was expensive as a $44 dish for two as it was primarily rice with a few mussels, a couple shrimp and small slices of octopus and squid scattered within it. Unfortunately, for dessert I learned that the PASTÉIS DE BELÉM was not made in house like the other desserts, but rather shipped from Newark, NJ. This might have changed since I last dined here, but do ask your waiter/waitress if this has changed.

The food deserves 6 stars, I took one star off due to the poor service so here's 5 stars. Our server couldn't understand us, and he wasn't warm or attentive either. I don't know if it's a language issue or cognitive issue. He kept waking away while we talked to him several times. When we asked questions, he just gave a thumb up lol but he didn't actually hear us or answer our questions. It was honestly the most speechless service we've received in a while. Nonetheless, the food was AMAZING. I highly recommend the authentic Portuguese dishes - Bacalhau à Zé do Pipo which is Codfish in a little casserole, the Polvo à Lagareiro which is a broiled octopus dish, and the Portuguese steak, the Portuguese egg tarts, and a glass of vinho verde gatao. Hmmm they were all fresh, nicely made, in a traditional recipe. This is the real thing guys, I'd return despite the poor service. That's how good it was!

Authentic cuisine #82 Portuguese. In search of good Portuguese food after Portugal visit is getting difficult. Portuguese is a big fan for tapas. I have Fado bookmark and visited. That was not disappointing in my expectations. We started with Chourico A Bombeiro. This is Portuguese sausage flamed at the table. The sausage is great to share. The sausage flame with crispy skin. I recommend this dish. Our second dish is the Sardinhas with fresh sardines in grilled. In come with five pieces. I love these fishes. The marinated on fish is great. It is just line the one we get in Portugal. The third dish is the Frigideirinha de Polvo E Lulas. This is a mixed of octopus and squid in sautéed serve in skillet. This dish is good. I think I like the grilled octopus better. The last dish Camarao Alhino. This is the garlic shrimp just like the one I tasted in Sesimbra coastal city in Portugal. The garlic sauce is great. Love it. Definitely get this dish. Our experience was great during our visit. Food is definitely good taste especially the appetizers.

All 3 of us in our party loved the food, the service, the sleek modern look of this restaurant. I don't have time to write more at this moment, but we all decided immediately to come back! There were so many dishes we wanted to try! I love finding a new (to us) great restaurant!!

We've driven by Fado several times and not stopped. It's in a somewhat unassuming location, so it was easy to pass. and forget about. I was stationed in the Azores for three years, and have visited Portugal several times so had a high expectation. We were definitely not disappointed. There is a large bar and wide-open space. The tables and booths are not crowded. It has a more modern decor. While they did not have live music, or anyone playing the fado or singing, they did have traditional Portuguese music playing in the background. it was a very relaxing environment. We were seated quickly in our server was at the table within a minute or so. He was extremely attentive and accommodating. He offered us the typical attention given in most European restaurants. The menu has a diverse Portuguese cuisine, primarily of seafood, which is what we expected. As it turned out, the chef was from the Azores. The food was prepared exactly as it is in restaurants there. It was wonderful. The cod was perfectly cooked. All the flavors were rich . The dishes gave us that sense of warm comfort. Truly satisfying. The portions were generous. My wife's meal was on a larger serving plate so our server portioned it onto her dinner plate table side. The wine and drink selection was very good. My only regret is having driven past Fado so many times in the past. We will definitely be back.

Incredibly tender octopus dish! I wanted to try one of their several octopus entrees. This is one of the only restaurants I have found that serves multiple octopus dishes. I went with the Polvo Na Caqarola, which is octopus and potatoes cooked in a Portuguese ceramic dish. The dish came with two decently sized tentacles and a little bit of potatoes and peppers. The octopus was incredibly tender. If you want to try delicious and tender octopus then this is the place. Since it was not grilled, it did not have char which adds so much flavor in my opinion. The portion size of the octopus (2 tentacles) was great but a rather small portion of potatoes. At $40 (market price), the value was just reasonable. The servers were great and very helpful. They recommended trying the Pasteis de Belem or a traditional Portuguese egg custard tart. These were a really good after dinner snack.

Authentic and deliciously plated Portuguese food, great service and ambiance, and good pacing. We loved it. A special thanks to our waiter Lucas, for his fun and informative conversations. We also appreciated your service and sympathy! Hope to see you once again.

What a lucky night! my second visit and let me tell you, they got it right, finally! Food was great, service was European style, they serve and leave you alone to enjoy your guest. Dont bother coming here if you are in a rush because it will ruin a good night. We tried mostly apps and the size were like a full meals. Brazil is known for their Portuguese cuisines. Are you brave enough to eat fried sardine in full and drink beer? I did and ordered it twice. Can you handle calamari and octopus? It was a meal! The marinated tender lamb over mash was awesome. The little neck sautés over garlic and wine was delicious. We arrived at 630pm and left at 9:30, we simply lost time, Fado staff simply want you to enjoy the ambience. You've read my my previous blog, so you believe when i say, trust me!

We had amazing service when we decided to eat here one night. Top that up with some amazing Portuguese cuisine and that's an easy 5 stars! My wife and I decided to go here before heading to a show at the Palladium theater which is only a few minutes walk away. The menu appears to be mostly steak and seafood but there were also some other options. I was lucky to try the tasty lamb shanks that was one of the specials at the time. That gravy and mash potatoes with it was delicious. You can't go wrong with the steak either (according to my wife). There's also a classy atmosphere here which would make this restaurant a nice option for a celebration or even a date. I hope to return at some point to try the seafood and maybe have a cheeky cocktail or three.
